BOTSHABELO – One of the fastest growing bed manufacturing companies which was officially launched in Botshabelo, Free State province by Premier Ace Magashule and the then MEC for Destea, Msebenzi Zwane eight months ago, Kings Comfort is geared up to take the African bed market by storm.
This company with a unique poverty alleviation business model is spearheaded and funded by the provincial (DESTEA) department of economic, small business development, tourism and environmental affairs in conjunction with the newly established company, Kings’ Comfort, aimed at revitalizing businesses in townships.
In an interview with Dumelang News, the big dream maker as Andries Taljaard is commonly known was thrilled by the impressive inroads their eight month old company is making nationally and internationally in just a short space of time. “We are grateful to Free State government as they are supporting us and recently sent us to SAITEX (South African International Trade Exhibition) which was held in Johannesburg. This was a great platform for us as most of the international companies had come to showcase their products and to create business opportunities in the import and export market. We met different people and some of them are the very people we will be exporting our beds to,” said Taljaard.
He said they would be exporting their beds countries like Malawi and Zambia starting from next month. “We are waiting for the ten visas for our team to be approved. The companies that we are working with have good distribution networks and the existing warehouse where our beds would be stored,” he said. “This is creating more jobs for locals as we are manufacturing locally in a component format.
Meaning we will fold up the beds and send two of our employees to re assemble them,” the big dream makers said. He said going international is going to force them to increase the volume of their beds manufactured hence they have imported five million rand worth of machinery from China and they are hoping to create fifty more jobs for strictly local people.
“We will be manufacturing 1000 beds per month for each country. We will intend increasing them to 2500 a month starting from next year. In October 2014 the company started locally in Botshabelo and in March this year we moved to Johannesburg for our national footprint and we are glad that we are now going international,’’ he concluded
