Restonic vs Mr Mattress: Honest Comparison (2026)
Restonic is one of the oldest names in bedding. The brand goes back to 1938, Restonic beds have been made in South Africa for decades, and the Chiropractic Association of South Africa endorses them. You will find them in just about every big furniture chain in the country. If you are looking at one right now, that makes sense.
We are not here to run them down. Restonic builds a proper bed and has earned its name. But before you buy, there are a few things the showroom floor will not always make clear.
The short answer: Restonic gives you a huge choice of mostly spring and pocket spring beds sold through retail chains, at prices that change from shop to shop. Mr Mattress makes one type of product, high-density foam mattresses, sold direct at one fixed price with a 365-night comfort trial. Which is better comes down to whether you want springs and showroom variety, or foam and a simple, fixed deal.
Restonic details on this page were last verified on 18 July 2026 against restonicsa.co.za and national retailer listings. Prices and terms change, so always confirm with the retailer before you buy.
You buy Restonic through a retailer, and that changes the price
Restonic does not sell to you directly. Their beds reach you through a large national retail network: Bradlows, OK Furniture, House and Home, Lewis, Sleepmasters, Dial-a-Bed, The Mattress Warehouse and many independents. Same brand, different shops, different prices. At one national retailer we checked, Restonic queen mattresses ran from R5,099 for the Dublin to R12,099 for the iDream Zonal Plush. Entry-level Restonic foam starts around R3,299 elsewhere. Your comfort trial, delivery cost and returns also depend on which retailer you walk into, not on Restonic itself.
Mr Mattress sells direct. One price online, the same price in our own stores across South Africa, delivered free to your door.
Springs versus foam
Most of the Restonic range is spring: the Classic, Supreme, Premium and Pocket ranges, plus the flagship iDream line with features like Feran Ice temperature regulation and Diamond Convolute comfort layers. It is a genuinely wide range, and if you specifically want a pocket spring bed, Restonic offers plenty of good ones.
Mr Mattress does not make springs at all. We make high-density foam and memory foam mattresses, 30 kg/m3 SABS-approved foam in every model. Foam supports your body evenly, keeps your spine aligned and relieves pressure points, with far less motion transfer than a spring bed when your partner moves.
The warranty small print
Restonic's cover splits into two parts. First a guarantee period, 2 years on the models we checked, during which Restonic carries the cost of repairing or replacing defective workmanship or materials. After that, a service warranty runs for the remaining years, 15 years on iDream models, but on a pro-rata basis: you carry a growing share of the repair cost, and transport costs are specifically excluded. Restonic's warranty also states that comfort impressions of up to 4 cm are normal, so body impressions inside that depth are not claimable.
Mr Mattress keeps it simpler, and we are upfront about our own tiers: 3 years on the Comfort Foam range, 10 years on Active, Revive and Hybrid. A written warranty against manufacturing defects, plus 365 nights to change your mind about comfort, which no warranty at any brand covers.

Where Restonic genuinely wins
Heritage and reach. The brand has been going since 1938 and carries the endorsement of the Chiropractic Association of South Africa. If you want a pocket spring bed, Restonic gives you real choice at many quality levels, including a Hotelier range built for guest houses and hotels. And because so many chains stock them, you can lie on one in a showroom in almost any town in South Africa. That counts for something and we respect it.
Where Mr Mattress wins
No retailer maze. One honest foam mattress range, one fixed price, online or in our own stores across South Africa, with more opening. 365 nights to be sure it suits you, backed by a written warranty: 3 years on Comfort Foam, 10 years on Active, Revive and Hybrid. Free delivery nationwide: Free State customers usually get their mattress in 1 to 3 working days, national orders take 3 to 7 working days depending on your area. Questions? Call us on 087 087 1610.

Frequently asked questions
Is Mr Mattress cheaper than Restonic?
Usually, yes. A Mr Mattress queen starts at R3,699 for Comfort Foam and tops out at R7,199 for the Revive memory foam, one fixed price. Restonic queen mattresses at one national retailer ran from R5,099 to R12,099, and the same model can cost different amounts at different shops.
Is Restonic's 15-year warranty really 15 years?
Read the split. Restonic gives a 2-year guarantee during which they carry the full cost of a valid claim. The remaining years are a pro-rata service warranty: you pay a growing share of the repair or replacement cost, and transport is excluded. Mr Mattress covers manufacturing defects in full for the warranty period: 3 years on Comfort Foam, 10 years on Active, Revive and Hybrid.
Can I try a Restonic mattress before I buy?
In a showroom, yes, almost anywhere. A home trial depends entirely on which retailer you buy from: some offer a comfort trial, many offer none. With Mr Mattress you can try the same mattress in our own stores at the same price as online, or buy online and use the 365-night comfort guarantee to try it properly at home.
Does Restonic make foam mattresses?
Restonic's range centres on spring and pocket spring beds, with some entry-level foam options through certain retailers. Mr Mattress makes foam and memory foam only, all 30 kg/m3 SABS-approved high-density foam.
Who should choose Restonic over Mr Mattress?
If you specifically want a pocket spring bed, want to compare many models on a showroom floor, or value the chiropractic endorsement and long brand history, Restonic is a solid choice. If you want high-density foam at a fixed direct price with a full year to test it at home, that is exactly what we build.
