You found the bed. You paid. Now you're staring at your phone wondering when it's actually going to show up.

The number on the website isn't always the number.
A lot of mattress sellers put "1 to 2 days" or "3 to 5 days" on their site. Then you order, and a week goes by. Then two. You phone, you email, and you get nothing back. It's one of the most common complaints in this whole industry, people who paid and then got left in the dark.
Why does it happen? Usually one reason: they don't actually have the bed. It's coming from a supplier, or an import, or a warehouse that's out of stock. They took your money before they knew when they could deliver.
Here's what actually decides your delivery time.
Three things.
Where the bed is made. If it's made locally, it moves fast. If it's imported or sitting in a third-party warehouse, you're at the mercy of a chain you can't see.
Whether it's in stock or built to order. A standard size in stock ships quick. A custom or extra-length bed takes longer, and that's fine, as long as somebody tells you upfront.
Where you live. Main centres are quick. Deep rural takes a bit longer. Normal.
What a good delivery timeline looks like in SA.
For a locally made foam bed, you should be looking at somewhere between 1 and 7 working days depending on your province. If someone's quoting you same-day on a custom bed, be careful. And if someone's gone quiet on you for a week, that tells you everything about how they'll treat you after the sale too.
The part nobody talks about: what happens when it's late.
Delays happen. Trucks break. Stock runs short. Weather closes a road. Any honest company will tell you that.
The real test isn't whether a delay ever happens. It's what they do when it does. Do they phone you? Or do you have to chase them for two weeks?
That's the whole thing. A company that calls you before you call them is a company that'll still be there if something goes wrong with your bed in year three.
