Running a mattress fleet in Kruger country

The towns around Kruger National Park, Hazyview, Sabie and Graskop near the northern and central gates, Komatipoort and Malelane near the southern gates, and Marloth Park sitting right against the Crocodile Bridge Gate, all run on the same thing: tourism. Lodges, guesthouses, B&Bs and safari camps fill and empty their rooms on a rhythm that a normal household bed never sees, and staff accommodation adds another set of beds that get slept in night after night by different people.

A bed in a guest room or staff quarters in this part of Mpumalanga works harder than most. Guests arrive with different body weights, different sleep positions and different expectations, and the mattress has to perform for all of them, week after week, without sagging or losing shape within a season or two. That is a durability question first and a comfort question second, which is why the specs (density, coil type, warranty length) matter more here than in a typical home purchase.

Which range suits hospitality use

For most lodges and guesthouses in the Kruger gateway towns, two ranges come up again and again as the sensible pick for guest rooms in regular rotation.

Active Foam is our firmest range at 50 kg/m3 density with a 10 year warranty, and it is genuinely turnable, which helps even out wear across a bed that gets used constantly. It is a solid, budget-conscious choice for high-turnover rooms where guests want a supportive, no-nonsense feel.

Hybrid gives guests the coil-and-foam feel most people already recognise from hotels and their own homes. It uses a Bonnell steel coil core plus high-density foam layers, and it is EN 1957 tested, a durability standard that matters when a mattress is going to see far more nights of use per year than an average household bed. It is single-sided and not turnable (rotate head-to-toe only), and it comes in Double and Queen sizes only.

For a premium or couples-suite tier, Revive Memory Foam is worth considering. It is contouring open-cell memory foam over a high-density core, and it offers a genuine comfort upgrade for guests who want a softer, body-hugging feel. We keep this framing honest: it is a comfort mattress, not a medical device, and we do not claim it treats or prevents any medical condition.

For staff accommodation on a tighter budget, Comfort Foam is a firm, straightforward, genuinely turnable option at 45 kg/m3 density with a 3 year warranty. It is not the cheapest mattress you can find in South Africa (unbranded singles from around R1,299 exist with no published density or written warranty), but it is what we would call smart cheap: the lowest price we sell with both a published density and a written warranty behind it.

The Marloth Park showroom, and being honest about who it actually suits

In August 2026 we opened our first Mpumalanga store, an appointment-only showroom in Marloth Park, right at the southern end of the Kruger gateway towns and close to the Crocodile Bridge Gate. It is the first store we have built on this appointment-only model, and it exists specifically so that lodge and guesthouse owners can come in, feel the mattresses in person and talk through an order before committing to fitting out several rooms. Prices in the showroom are the same as online.

Realistically, that showroom is a genuine convenience for owners in the southern cluster: Komatipoort, Malelane and Marloth Park itself. If you run a lodge or guesthouse further north, in Hazyview, Sabie or Graskop, the drive down to Marloth Park is a long one, and you are better served by our free delivery and 365 night trial than by trying to visit in person. Either way, the trial and warranty terms are identical no matter which route you take to buy.

Delivery to the Kruger gateway towns

Delivery is free nationwide across South Africa, including Hazyview, Sabie, Graskop, Malelane (also spelled Malalane), Komatipoort and Marloth Park. National delivery generally runs 3 to 7 working days. Some lodges and homes sit right on the edge of the reserve or well off the main routes, and those addresses can understandably land nearer the 7 day end of that window. Our courier phones ahead before delivery, so nobody arrives at a locked gate or an empty lodge entrance with no one to sign for it. A small delivery fee only applies in the most extreme rural cases.

Frequently asked questions

Can we order mattresses in bulk for multiple rooms?

Yes. We do not have a documented bulk discount, so we will not invent one here, but delivery stays free no matter how many mattresses you order at once. If you are fitting out several guest rooms or a staff block, the best step is to call 087 087 1610 and talk through exactly what you need, room by room.

Does the warranty differ for commercial or hospitality use?

No. Warranty and trial terms are exactly the same for hospitality and commercial buyers as they are for a residential home purchase. We do not add any commercial-use exclusions.

Which range suits a lodge or guesthouse with high guest turnover?

Active Foam and Hybrid are the two ranges lodge and guesthouse owners choose most often. Active Foam is firm, durable and genuinely turnable at a budget-friendly price. Hybrid gives guests a familiar spring feel and is EN 1957 tested for durability, which suits rooms that turn over guests frequently.

Do you deliver to remote lodges near the reserve?

Yes, delivery is free nationwide, including remote lodge and reserve-edge addresses around Kruger. These deliveries can land nearer the 7 day end of our 3 to 7 working day window, and our courier always phones ahead so someone is there to receive it.

What is the Marloth Park showroom and who is it for?

It is our first appointment-only showroom, opened in August 2026 in Marloth Park near Komatipoort, close to the Crocodile Bridge Gate. Prices in-store match online. It is most convenient for lodge and guesthouse owners in the southern cluster (Komatipoort, Malelane, Marloth Park). Owners further north in Hazyview, Sabie or Graskop are a longer drive away and are better served by free delivery and the 365 night trial.

What is a good budget option for staff accommodation?

Comfort Foam is our recommended option for staff accommodation on a budget. It is firm, genuinely turnable, has a published 45 kg/m3 density and a 3 year written warranty, which makes it a smarter choice than unbranded budget mattresses with no specs behind them.

Fitting out a lodge, guesthouse or staff block is easier with the right advice up front. Browse the full range at mrmattress.co.za, or call 087 087 1610 and we will help you work out what suits each room, how many beds you need and how delivery will work for your address.
