Kathu earned its nickname, the town under the trees, from the camel thorn forest it was built inside, a stand of roughly 4,000 hectares that is often described as one of only two forests of its kind in the world. But most people are in Kathu for one reason: Sishen, one of the largest open-pit iron ore mines in the world, and mine rosters are hard on sleep. If you work rotating or night shifts, two things matter most in a mattress. We do not have a walk-in store in Kathu. Our nearest store is in Upington, about two hours down the road, and we have stores across South Africa, with more opening. Until one reaches the iron-ore capital, the deal works like this: you order online, a courier delivers to your door free of charge, and the 365 night comfort trial turns your own bedroom into the showroom. Sleep on it through a full roster cycle, a Kalahari summer and a frosty winter, and if it is not right, we collect it. Every bed is made in South Africa, through our own and approved partner facilities in Gauteng, Cape Town and East London, with our head office and main factory in Bloemfontein. Delivery is free. Free State customers: usually 1 to 3 working days. National orders: 3 to 7 working days depending on your area. Kathu is in the Northern Cape, not the Free State, so plan on the national tier of 3 to 7 working days. Kathu sits just off the N14 with an established freight corridor serving the mines, so addresses in Kathu itself, Sesheng and Deben are usually handled comfortably within that window, and we also deliver free to Dingleton's relocated households, Olifantshoek and across the Gamagara valley. Mine accommodation and outlying farms can land at the later end of the window, and the courier phones ahead to arrange the day.
