Short answer: Sleepmasters is a national bed retailer selling its own house-branded beds. Mr Mattress is a manufacturer selling its own foam range direct, from R2,399, with a 365-night home trial and no minimum hold period. Sleepmasters' 120-night guarantee sounds longer, but it needs a 30-night minimum hold, a same-order mattress protector, and the bed itself has to cost R4,999 or more just to qualify. Verdict: Mr Mattress wins on trial terms; the two are closer on entry price than most comparisons on this site. Sleepmasters' cheapest foam mattress actually undercuts our Comfort Foam range at the very entry level. But their 120-night guarantee only applies to purchases of R4,999 or more, so that cheapest mattress doesn't even qualify for their own trial. Every Mr Mattress model, regardless of price, gets the full 365-night trial with no minimum spend.

Sleepmasters is a national bed retailer with stores across South Africa, selling its own house-branded ranges - Supreme, Brooklyn, Easy Dream and others - rather than reselling third-party manufacturers. That makes them closer to Bed King's model than Dial-a-Bed's.
Mr Mattress is a manufacturer. We make our own foam and memory foam mattresses in South Africa, plus one Bonnell coil-and-foam Hybrid, and sell them directly online and through our own stores. Four ranges, every one with its specs published.
The comfort guarantee, read closely
Sleepmasters advertises a 120-Night Sleep Comfort Guarantee. The conditions matter: you need a minimum of 30 nights before you're eligible, and between night 31 and 120 you can exchange for a bed of equal or greater value - if the replacement costs more, you pay the difference, and you can't exchange down for something cheaper. To qualify at all, you must buy a Sleepmasters mattress protector on the same sales order, and the bed itself must cost R4,999 or more. It also doesn't apply to warranty exchanges, clearance or discontinued stock, floor models, pillows or protectors themselves. Outside of that, their standard policy is a 14-day cooling-off return.
Mr Mattress gives you 365 nights at home on every model, from the cheapest to the most expensive, with no minimum hold period and no minimum spend to qualify.

Where Sleepmasters genuinely wins
Entry price. The Easy Dream queen foam mattress at R2,599 undercuts our cheapest queen. If budget is your only concern and you don't need a trial, that's a real option.
Store network. Physical stores if you want to lie on a bed before buying.
Warranty length on some models. Several Sleepmasters models carry a 10-year warranty, matching our top tiers.
Where buying direct wins
The trial applies to everyone. No R4,999 minimum spend to qualify. Buy our cheapest mattress and you still get 365 nights.
No minimum hold, no cap on exchange direction. Ours doesn't require 30 nights first, and doesn't force you to pay extra if you change your mind toward something pricier.

Does Mr Mattress sell a pocket spring mattress?
Not a pocket spring, no. Our Hybrid uses a Bonnell steel coil core (2.4mm wire, 82B high-carbon steel, fully oven-tempered, 5.5mm border wire clipped at every coil) under a thick foam comfort layer, with the full spec published.
Who handles a warranty claim if I buy from Sleepmasters?
Sleepmasters, as the retailer and brand owner of its house ranges, handles claims directly, subject to their own terms and exclusions. Mr Mattress covers manufacturing defects for the full warranty period on every model, direct with the maker.
