A bed that breathes, for a province that needs it
KwaZulu-Natal sleeping is a tale of two climates. On the coast, Durban's humid summer nights are the sternest test a mattress faces anywhere in South Africa: a bed that traps heat and moisture feels clammy by January. Up in Pietermaritzburg, Ladysmith and the Midlands, winters get genuinely cold. A hybrid is well suited to both. Its spring core is mostly open air, so the support layer ventilates far better than a solid block, while the thick foam comfort layer on top provides the cushioning that the thin-padded spring beds of the past never delivered. Familiar springy support, better sleeping temperature, real comfort.
A nearby Mr Mattress store in KwaZulu-Natal, and we will not pretend otherwise
We do not have a walk-in store in KwaZulu-Natal yet. We have stores across South Africa, with more opening, and until one lands in your province the deal works like this: you order online at a manufacturer's price with a nearby Mr Mattress store rent built in, delivery to your door is free, and the 365 night comfort trial turns your own bedroom into the showroom. Sleep on the Hybrid through a full Durban summer and a Midlands winter, and if it is not right, we collect it. Every bed is made in South Africa through our own and approved partner facilities in Gauteng, the Free State, Cape Town, East London, KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga.

Searching for the best spring mattress in KwaZulu-Natal?
Spring beds have deep roots in KwaZulu-Natal households, and the loyalty is deserved: springs are durable, evenly supportive and naturally well ventilated, a real asset on the humid coast. What always let them down was the thin comfort layer stitched on top, which flattened years before the coils wore out. A hybrid is simply the spring bed with that one flaw engineered out.
When we checked major South African retailers in July 2026, branded spring and hybrid queens ranged from R3,899 to R19,199, often with different prices for the same model at different shops. The Mr Mattress Hybrid queen is R7,199, one price everywhere. Delivery to KwaZulu-Natal
Delivery is free. Free State customers: usually 1 to 3 working days. National orders: 3 to 7 working days depending on your area. KwaZulu-Natal falls in the national tier, so plan on 3 to 7 working days, with deep rural addresses at the longer end of that range.
Frequently asked questions
Does Mr Mattress have a store in Durban or Pietermaritzburg?
Not yet. We have stores across South Africa, with more opening, but none in KwaZulu-Natal at the moment. Every order includes a 365 night comfort trial instead, so you can test the Hybrid at home for far longer than any showroom visit would allow, and we collect it if it is not right.
Is a hybrid mattress a good choice for Durban humidity?
Many coastal sleepers prefer spring-based beds because the open spring core lets air move through the support layer rather than trapping it. No mattress can change your room's climate, so ventilation and bedding still matter, but a hybrid avoids the closed-in feel some solid beds have on humid nights.
How long does delivery to KwaZulu-Natal take?
National orders take 3 to 7 working days depending on your area, and delivery is free anywhere in KwaZulu-Natal. Durban, Pietermaritzburg and other metro addresses are typically handled well within that window, while rural areas may sit at the longer end. We contact you to arrange the day.
How much does a hybrid mattress cost in KwaZulu-Natal?
The Mr Mattress Hybrid costs R6,299 for a double and R7,199 for a queen, mattress only. Base sets are R6,999 for a double, R7,999 for a queen and R9,999 for a king. Free delivery anywhere in KwaZulu-Natal is included, and the price is the same wherever you buy.
What warranty does the Hybrid carry?
The Hybrid carries a 10 year written warranty, alongside the 365 night comfort trial. Our warranties are tiered by range: 3 years on Comfort Foam, and 10 years on Active, Revive and Hybrid. Because the beds are made in South Africa, warranty support stays local rather than sitting with an importer.

What to check before you buy any mattress
- Published foam density. Active Foam is 50 kg/m3 and the Revive has a 65 kg/m3 core, printed on the product so you can compare like with like.
- Weight rating. The Revive is rated to 140 kg per sleeper, so check the rating for the heaviest person in the bed.
- Trial and warranty terms. Ours is a 365 night home trial, a 30 day money-back guarantee and a fixed written warranty that is never pro-rated.
- The base. A worn or sagging base can undo a new mattress, so a base set is worth considering.
- The pillow. A pillow that suits your sleeping position matters as much as the mattress for neck comfort.
Signs your current mattress is the problem
A visible dip where you sleep, waking stiff most mornings, noisy springs, or a mattress that is more than 8 to 10 years old are the usual signs. A mattress is a comfort product, not a medical treatment, so speak to a doctor about persistent pain.
